Women For Technical Talks (W4TT) 2024
🌟 What an incredible experience it was to attend the Women For Technical Talks (W4TT) event on June 1st! 🎉
I had the honor of presenting the talk «Words with Weight: Unveiling Gender Bias in Large Language Models», where we explored how gender biases infiltrate and persist in natural language processing (NLP) and large language models (LLMs) 🧠. We discussed current methodologies for identifying and measuring these biases, using concrete examples of biases in the selection of descriptive words, gender role assignments, and dialogue themes across various languages. Additionally, we addressed the ethical and social implications of these biases and proposed strategies to mitigate them, ensuring that advancements in AI promote an equitable and fair representation of all genders. This session is essential for developers, researchers, and anyone interested in gender equity in technology.
